In partnership with Eagle Park Brewing! Brews and Books will usually meet at Eagle Park on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm. Grab a drink or a meal and discuss good books with new friends!

July's book is The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali. Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk in early June.

In The Lion Women of Tehran, in 1950s Tehran, seven-year-old Ellie lives in grand comfort until the death of her father, forcing Ellie and her mother to move to a tiny home downtown. On the first day of school, she meets Homa, a kind and passionate girl. Together, the two girls play games, learn to cook in Homa’s warm home, wander through the colorful stalls of the Grand Bazaar, and share their ambitions for becoming “lion women.”

But their happiness is disrupted when Ellie and her mother are afforded the opportunity to return to their previous bourgeois life. Now a popular student at the best girls’ high school in Iran, Ellie’s memories of Homa begin to fade. Years later, however, her sudden reappearance in Ellie’s privileged world alters the course of both of their lives.

August's book will be A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan. Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk in early July.

A Fever in the Heartland is thrilling true story. It tells the riveting saga of the Klan's rise to power in the 1920s, the cunning con man who drove that rise, and the woman whose deathbed testimony stopped them.
